Listen was commissioned by PLC Croydon especially for the 2016 IPSHA Conference in Sydney and sung by a combined choir of leading schools.
Written by Bonnie Nilsson and Paul, the piece is a tribute to music itself and to music education.
The piece is also arranged for String Ensemble. The version here is in Eb major so as Altos don’t have to sing below a Bb, but if you would like the piece in a key suited to your school string ensemble, we can also offer you this work in D Major, (down and semitone), but of this of course means a low ‘A’ for altos which may not be suitable for younger grades. Your school ensemble may also be fine in Eb Major of course. Email us directly if you would like string parts.
Music is the sound of our home, our culture, our humanity and our world. We must always continue to offer our children the best possible music education we can and it begins in the classroom at infants school. We must work together until every school has trained music teachers to give children the gift of a music in their lives.
PLC Croydon has been a long time supporter of Paul’s music, with a history of 10 commissions including chamber orchestra, symphony orchestra and choirs. Paul has also been a composer in residence at the school since 2007. Thank you PLC for all you have inspired.
